Nominations sought for 19th annual Cook Awards by Nov. 21

The president, the provost, university diversity officers and the Cook Awards Committee are seeking nominations for the 19th annual Cook Awards, which honor Cornell students, faculty and staff members for their commitment to women’s issues and for improving the climate for women at Cornell.

The awards are named in honor of the late Constance E. Cook, Cornell’s first female vice president, and the late Professor Emerita Alice H. Cook, founding member of Cornell’s Committee on the Status of Women.

The award recognizes efforts that go beyond the satisfactory performance of expected job responsibilities. Female and male students, faculty and staff can receive awards. The Cook Awards committee will review all nominations and choose the final individuals to be recognized at a reception in spring 2017.

Nomination letters should describe the individual’s commitment to women’s issues and efforts to enhance the climate for women at Cornell. Nominations should include the nominee’s Cornell affiliation, email and local address. Nominations can be submitted to ofdd@cornell.edu or mailed to 122 Day Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853.

The deadline for the nominations is Monday, Nov. 21.
