03/24/17: Writing successful proposals for NASA and DOE funding

Did you know that Cornell’s federal research expenditure is around $425 million? The “big two” funding agencies, NIH and NSF, account for 75% of that total. However, obtaining funding from NIH and NSF is increasingly competitive. What other federal agencies can you tap into to fund your research?

At Cornell University, NASA (National Aeronautical Space Administration) or DOE (Department of Energy) account for $28.3 million of annual sponsored research expenditure. NASA funding of research at Cornell covers topics from White Dwarfs and Black Holes, to Robotic Rovers. Department of Energy funding at Cornell ranges from Microbial Metabolic Dependency, to Climate and Air Pollution, to Accelerator Science.

At this faculty panel session, you will learn tips and tricks to writing grant proposals geared towards these agencies from faculty who have been successful in obtaining NASA and DOE funding, and who have taken part in peer review panels for these agencies.
