Data for Faculty Recruitment

Ph.D ceremony in Barton Hall

A new tool developed by Institutional Research and Planning, the Faculty Pipeline Report, identifies the 50 higher education institutions awarding the most number of doctorates in the U.S. by discipline, race and gender.

“This online resource, available to everyone, can be useful for faculty recruitment efforts, especially when it comes to our endeavors to recruit women and underrepresented minorities, said Avery August, vice provost for academic affairs.

Using data provided by the National Center for Education Statistics, the tool enables users to pinpoint the 50 institutions granting the most doctorates from 2013-16, and shows how many Ph.D.s went to women and minorities.

“Search committees often ask which institutions have the most diverse Ph.D. candidate pool. Now they can see for themselves and target those universities in their search plans,” said Yael Levitte, associate vice provost for faculty development and diversity.
