Research on the concept of dual-centric provides helpful guidance on strategies for balance. Studies how that people with a dual focus on work and family are less stressed and more successful than those whose primary focus is on just work or just family. We will review the strategies these dual-focused people follow to achieve balance, and engage in related exercises. The strategies presented are relevant for singles as well as those with partners and children. Topics covered include:
- Clarifying your priorities at work and at home;
- Gender role and cultural conflicts;
- Sequencing and boundary setting;
- Developing networks of support;
- Finding time for self care, and
- Action steps to support healthy balance.
About the Presenter:
Rena Seltzer is president of the coaching and training business, Leader Academic and author of The Coach’s Guide for Women Professors. Rena and her affiliate coaches support faculty members and higher education leaders from major research universities in the United States and abroad. She is a regular presenter at Yale University, the University of Michigan and other institutions around the country.
