Facilitated by Yael Levitte, Senior Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity, and Gabriela Vargas, Director of Faculty Engagement and Early Career Development Programs, the workshop about best practices in faculty searches will include several interactive opportunities.

Attendees will watch a filmed scenario of a faculty search committee meeting in progress and a follow-up conversation with the committee chair. Through facilitated discussions, the workshop will unpack the scenarios, briefly examine the social science research underlying the dynamics presented in the videos and offer practical tools to address meeting dynamics, diversify candidate pools, avoid cognitive bias, and engage in effective search practices.
