Facilitated by Yael Levitte, Senior Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity, and Gabriela Vargas, Director of Faculty Engagement and Early Career Development Opportunities, this interactive workshop for faculty search committee members uses a filmed scenario of a faculty search committee meeting and a follow-up conversation with the committee chair. Through facilitated discussions, the workshop unpacks the scenarios, examines the social science data underlying the dynamics presented, and offers practical tools to diversify candidate tools, avoid cognitive bias, and engage in effective search practices.
