Public Voices Thought Leader Fellowship
The Provost’s Office of Faculty Development and Diversity accepted 20 faculty fellows to the “Public Voices Fellowship Program,” a new initiative to increase the public impact of Cornell’s faculty. The Public Voices Fellowship provides fellows with resources, skills, and access to national media, to support them in their efforts to shape public conversations. The Fellowship is part of a national initiative launched by The OpEd Project in partnership with universities and foundations nationwide. Fellows completing the one-year fellowship program join a national network of Fellowship alumni, allowing for knowledge-sharing and innovation across universities.
At Cornell, fellows participate in four separate day-long workshop convenings. The curriculum combines game-based learning with research on influence, including: how ideas spread, when and why minds change, how credibility is built, and how impact is created. Fellows can join monthly calls with media insiders, receive customized email support and news alerts, and are assigned a journalist-mentor for dedicated one-on-one coaching throughout the year. Upon completion, fellows have access to The OpEd Project’s national network of high-level journalist “mentor-editors” for continuing support.
