Mentor and Coach: Utilizing Coaching Tools to Support a Dynamic Mentoring Relationship

Some mentoring relationships enrich both members of the duo, yet others seem to fall flat, despite the best of intentions. This interactive workshop will explore how coaching tools can be employed in the mentoring relationship to create a more dynamic experience. Following the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the difference between mentoring and coaching;
  • Evaluate when and whether to give advice vs. Supporting the mentee to identify their own best solutions;
  • Differentiate between levels of listening and increase the time spent in high level listening, and
  • Facilitate learning through carefully selected powerful questions.
