Application Requirements

 

  1. Academic CV (including education, research, publications, awards, grants, etc.) 
  2. Application letter outlining reasons for wanting to participate in the program that answers the following questions (one-page, single-spaced 12-point font) 
    1. What do you hope to gain by participating in the program? 
    2. What interests you about an academic/ faculty career? 
  3. A Statement of research and teaching interests and career readiness (two-page, single-spaced 12-point font) that includes 
    1. Overview of your research and teaching experience that has shaped your future career plans 
    2.  Overview of proposed research program that provide sufficient context for a non-specialist to understand  
  4. A statement of contribution to diversity in research, teaching, and service (follow guidelines for faculty candidates) 
    1. Prompt: Please describe how your background and experiences influenced your decision to pursue a faculty position. Provide insight into how you may contribute to a community where scholars representing diverse backgrounds, perspectives, abilities, and experiences can learn and work productively and positively together in a climate of inclusion, belonging and respect.
    2. Examples might include but are not limited to: 
      1. Creating programs that provide access and a pipeline for groups traditionally underrepresented in some fields or those who have faced barriers to entering higher education altogether.  
      2. Enhancing the learning experience in the classroom, lab, and field for all students through exposure to new perspectives on cultures, beliefs, practices. 
      3. Describing how the candidate’s teaching engages or addresses barriers to full participation in the student educational experience. 
      4. Describing how the candidate’s research, scholarship, or creative activities contribute to understanding the barriers experienced by marginalized groups. 
      5. Offering research opportunities for individuals historically excluded from disciplines on the basis of their background (demographic, socioeconomic status, ability, etc.). 
      6. Mentoring and advising students and junior colleagues to enhance opportunities for underrepresented students and junior faculty to succeed in the academy. 
      7. Committing to public engagement with organizations or community groups serving historically minoritized populations or extending opportunities to disadvantaged people. 
  5. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member in your current institution addressing the prompt below.

Recommendation Letter

Applicants will forward a link  to a faculty member or supervisor who will write a letter of recommendation that addresses:

  • Candidate’s research and scholarship level, teaching ability, and commitment to diversity and excellence 
  • Candidates’ readiness for a faculty position
