04/28/2020 COVID-19 and the Tenure Clock Extension

As a result of the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on faculty work, the Provost and the Deans have made adjustments to the tenure process. Except for those individuals whose reviews are currently in progress, the evaluation period for reappointment or tenure review for all current tenure-track faculty members will be extended by one year, and the term of appointment will be adjusted accordingly.

Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Avery August and Deputy Provost John Siliciano will discuss this decision and will offer some information about the tenure process, outline criteria to help you decide whether to opt out of the extension and go up for promotion according to your original timeline. This is an opportunity for assistant professors to air their concerns and ask their questions.
